The team behind Combe Hay

Karen Holroyd is our Head of Home and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Combe Hay. Karen also makes sure that the home meets the required standards and fulfils the legal obligations in respect of management, record keeping, and staff.

Working alongside Karen is Pam Faulkner, Deputy Head of Home, as well as our dedicated and committed Care Manager, Emine Tekis.

In addition, our Care Team has two Senior Team Leaders, and two Team Leaders, one Welfare Team Leader, a Welfare Assistant and a team of highly trained care assistants who provide care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our care assistants deal with most aspects of social and personal care and work closely with all our residents. They are trained to deliver and supervise medication when required. However, we are happy for residents to remain responsible for their own medication if they prefer.

Care assistants also serve meals in the dining room and deliver trays to the residents’ rooms as appropriate, as well as serving morning tea, afternoon tea, supper drinks and snacks.

Our Welfare Team, is led by Yvette Sowden, who is responsible for organising:

  • Activities
  • Social events
  • Visiting entertainment
  • Accompanied shopping trips into Scarborough for residents who feel unable to go on into town on their own.
  • Trips in the home’s minibus (coffee trips, sea front outings, theatre trips, picnics, visits to stately homes and places of interest)
  • Religious observance.

Yvette is always available to listen to residents who wish to discuss any private matters in confidence.
